The things they'd otherwise ask you for in March — a charger, decent pens, a water bottle, headphones. The failure mode at this age is buying a toy version of a real object; a real one in a small size always lands better.
How much should you spend on stocking stuffers for a 10-year-old?
Roughly $10 to $25 an item, four or five items. One thing they'll use all year beats five novelty fillers, and tweens notice the difference immediately.
What stocking stuffers do tweens not want?
Character merchandise, anything labelled for kids, and novelty items sold in a plastic clamshell. If it would embarrass them to be seen with it at school, it stays in the box.
